Thank you for your interest in my quilts. I have made many quilts and always have very happy clients. The pictures on this website will give you a visual of what your quilt might look like as well as some of your options.
The color choice is yours. You can pick any two colors for your quilt that I then create using 100% cotton Moda marbles that are first quality quilt fabrics. The quilt is usually made of twelve or sixteen equal sized blocks that range in size from 14″-16″ with sashing in between the blocks. Adjustments can be made to accommodate the set of t-shirts that you have – for instance I have done rectangular blocks before. The size of the blocks is normally determined by the size of the largest design on the t-shirts and so the size of the finished quilts changes. Basically, the quilt made with twelve t-shirt is a generous twin or double size and the quilt made with sixteen t-shirt is a full/queen size.
The quilting is what makes my quilts special. The outside 6″ border contains a quilting pattern in any theme that you choose. I can custom design a border for your quilt. The next border is a 2.5″ border that contains quilted writing. I have done names, dates, Greek letters, sayings, schools, whatever you want in this border to make your quilt an original. Then I quilt a different design in each t-shirt. For instance, a skiing t-shirt might have snowflakes quilted into it. This is where I get to play and incorporate many ideas that reflect the theme of the quilt. Check out the pictures for examples of some of the quilts that I have done.
The cost for your quilt is $495 for 12 t-shirts or $595 for 16 t-shirts with a $250 deposit and the balance due when the quilt is done. Other sizes are also available. Payment is due before I send it to you or when you pick it up whichever you prefer. I can use the front and back of t-shirts but that will count as two blocks. There may be extra charges for pieced blocks that incorporate more than one t-shirt, complicated borders, optional labels or sleeves and shipping.
To get the ball rolling I will need you to send or bring me your uncut t-shirts plus the $250 deposit. We will then conference in person, by phone or email about what theme and writing that you want on your quilt as well as color choices and personalized quilting. I can offer many suggestions or you may already know what you want. Remember, your quilt will truly be all about you and a one of a kind original so the choices are yours.
